Your Vision, Our Blueprint: A Brief Overview of ClipClop’s OEM Electric Bike Services

CLIPCLOP OEM

Hi everyone, Leo Liang at your service.

It’s wonderful to reconnect with you all again through our ClipClop blog. For those who do not know me, I’m a member of the core team here at ClipClop, an electric off-road bicycle company based in Guangzhou. My own enthusiasm is strong in the technology, mechanics, and sheer joy of electric bikes, and I work my weekdays cooperating with our B2B clients—distributors, wholesalers, and rental fleets operators—to craft e-bike solutions that exactly fit their market needs. The global e-bike market is not only on the rise; it’s growing at a genuinely breathtaking pace, projected to reach over $50 billion by 2025. This isn’t merely a trend; it’s a revolution in business and personal mobility.

At ClipClop, we’re not just producing bikes; we’re building relationships. We realize that to our B2B clients, a bike isn’t something manufactured but the foundation of their business. That’s why our Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) service is at the heart of everything we do. It’s an immersive experience where we bring your vision to life, combining our manufacturing expertise with your unique brand identity. Today I’d like to pull back the curtain and reveal a behind-the-scenes glimpse at our OEM services. We’ll get up close and personal with how we tailor each and every component, from the motor powerhouse to the sturdy frame, to create a custom e-bike that communicates your brand’s voice and provides you with unparalleled performance for your clients.

What Makes a Partnership with an OEM Electric Bike Manufacturer Successful?

In my years in this industry, I’ve seen that the most successful B2B partnerships are built on a foundation of transparency, technical expertise, and a shared vision. When a distributor or a brand approaches an OEM electric bike manufacturer like ClipClop, they aren’t just buying a product; they are entrusting us with their brand’s reputation. The success of this relationship hinges on a few key pillars. First is communication. From the early idea discussion to the ultimate production run, keeping a channel of simple and clear communication is most important. This way, each specification, regardless of how minor, becomes clear and is carried out impeccably. It’s all about taking a client’s market knowledge and brand personality and interpreting it into actual engineering specifications. For instance, a client seeking to penetrate the rough, hilly terrain of the Alps will have very different requirements for motor torque and suspension travel than a client seeking to penetrate urban commuters in a flat city.

Second is an up-close and personal, two-way familiarity with the target market. We are not merely a manufacturer, but a strategic partner. We work closely with our clients to find out about their end-users. Are they veteran mountain riders demanding high-performance components or a rental shop demanding durability and ease of maintenance? This is what informs each OEM choice we make. A rental fleet, for example, would enjoy a robust 6061 Aluminum Alloy Frame for its unparalleled strength to cost, paired with a low-maintenance, reliable hub motor. Conversely, a higher-end performance brand may choose a hydroformed 7005 series aluminum frame for its increased strength-to-weight ratio and include a high-torque mid-drive motor to provide better climbing ability. Having the opportunity to engage in these detailed discussions and to match our manufacturing capacity with our client’s market plan is what takes an ordinary supplier relationship and turns it into a formidable alliance. This collaborative process ensures that the final product is not just a bike with a different logo; it’s a specifically crafted piece of equipment that appeals to its target market and delivers the promise of the brand.

How Do We Initiate the B2B Customization Process?

Developing a custom e-bike fleet is a process that begins with one, very significant step: the thorough consultation. This is where our process as a custom e-bike supplier truly begins. It’s a piece that I enjoy so much because it’s where things start to come together. An up-and-coming partner comes to us with a concept—be it a specific performance requirement, a desired price, or an innovative look. Our first task is to listen and then translate that concept into a feasible engineering proposal. We’ll have a sit-down (typically remotely, with partners from across the globe) and discuss all of it. What’s the primary application scenario? Will it be high-altitude trail riding, last-mile delivery, or a beach vacation rental business? The application determines where we start. A delivery bike will emphasize battery range and payload capacity, and we would recommend a high-capacity 48V 15Ah lithium battery and frame rack mounts.

From there, we dive into technical spec. This is where our B2B customization comes into play. We provide an options list, each with differing performance demands. We will address motor selection: do you need the sheer power of a 48V 750W brushless motor at 70Nm torque to tackle hills or would a lighter, more efficient 500W motor suffice for less demanding terrain, thereby optimizing cost vs. weight? We review frame size and geometry requirements to make certain that the bicycle offers the proper fit and handling characteristic for the target market. We also touch on the selection of materials as a point of relevance. 6061 Aluminum Alloy is our first-choice suggestion because of its weldability, corrosion resistance, and general strength, making it a versatile and reliable material for most off-road applications. All elements, from the Shimano 7-speed derailleur to the choice of 20″*4.0 fat tires for traction on loose surfaces, are selected by this collaborative process. We bring our experience, explaining the trade-offs between cost, weight, and functionality, so our partners can make informed decisions that precisely fit what they wish to accomplish within their company.

Can You Customize the Central Power and Performance Components?

Yes. The motor and battery, or powertrain, is the heart of any electric bicycle. This is where performance is determined, and it is a key area of interest for our OEM customization. When a customer comes to us, they have complete control over the customizing of these core components to fit their specific needs in their marketplace. The conversation often starts with the motor. We offer different levels of motor power, but our flagship model with its heavy-duty 48V 750W brushless motor is a best-seller for off-road applications. It is not just about maximum watt output; we delve into the specifics of torque delivery. The motor at 70Nm of torque provides the oomph to tackle the steep grades and challenging trails without hesitation, a critical element for our customers in mountain bike rentals or trail riding. We can further customize the settings of the controller so that the power delivery varies, giving a smoother, gentler acceleration to brands more concerned with leisure or a more aggressive, responsive acceleration to performance-oriented brands.

The battery system can also be customized. The standard configuration of a 48V 15AH lithium battery is a sound balance, providing an in-real-life range per charge of 30-60KM depending on riding style and terrain. However, for business partners requiring higher range for high-mileage touring versions or heavy-duty rental use, we can procure and integrate higher capacity battery packs. We ensure all our battery systems use high-caliber cells from reputable suppliers and are housed in robust, often frame-mounted, enclosures to guard against them and show a clean face. We also engage in a conversation on charging solutions, e.g., offering fast chargers to reduce downtime—a crucial aspect for commercial fleet managers. In addition, we can tailor the Pedal Assist System (PAS) levels. A rider might want five varying levels of support, each providing a different percentage of motor torque, so they can tailor their ride. This level of fine control over the basic performance of the bicycle is what allows us to be a truly versatile OEM electric bike partner.

What Are the Options for Frame Design and Materials

The frame is the backbone of the bicycle; it determines the handling, strength, and personality of the bicycle. Being a dedicated private label e-bike company, we have a tremendous level of customization in this department. Material selection is a vital decision. We employ high-quality 6061 Aluminum Alloy as our baseline material. We choose this specific alloy for its fantastic properties: it’s light, tough, and resistant to corrosion, ideal for bikes that will be subject to the weather. Its high formability allows us to use advanced manufacturing techniques like hydroforming to create complex tube shapes that optimize strength and stiffness without the weight penalty. This produces a bike that is responsive on the trail but durable enough to withstand heavy duty. For those customers who have other performance objectives or price targets, we can also explore other alloys, such as the 7005 series, which offers even higher tensile strength.

Beyond the material, the design and geometry of the frame are completely available to be customized. We work with our partners in frame size spec to fit rider heights over a wide range, yielding a comfortable and efficient riding position. This could mean developing small, medium, and large frames for a single model. We can also tailor important geometry numbers like the head tube angle to give the bike greater stability at higher speeds or greater agility on tight, technical trails. We also add functional features depending on what the bike will be ridden for. This can include mounting points for fenders and racks on utility bikes, creating cable routing internally to look neater and have lower maintenance, or building heavy-duty sections that can take the abuse of holding a maximum 160kg/350lbs load. Branding is the final step. We offer expert painting and decal services to allow our partners to stamp their individual logos and color signatures on our high-quality frame to obtain a uniquely owned product.

How Do You Ensure Component Quality and Tailor-Made?

An excellent e-bike is not all about its engine and frame; it’s the sum total of all its components. We understand that with our B2B customers, component reliability is also customer satisfaction, as well as cost of doing business. This is why our B2B customization process is inclusive of all of the discrete components on the bicycle. We have established close business relationships with worldwide-known component producers, allowing us to offer a curated selection of top-quality, reliable components. Of the drivetrain choices, an old standby and trusty choice is the Shimano 7-speed system. It provides crisp shifting and the reliability to survive off-road. But in case a customer wants a wider gear range for more rugged terrain, we can easily upgrade to a 9-speed or 10-speed Shimano, SRAM, or other leading-brand system.

This philosophy of quality and option extends throughout. Braking is a safety feature, so we put heavy-duty hydraulic disc brakes in our bicycles as standard equipment. These offer improved braking and modulation compared to mechanical brakes, something necessary for a 51km/h top speed bike. We can customize further, however, with the option of larger rotors for even better heat dissipation on longer descents or four-piston calipers for maximum stopping power. For comfort and control on the more unpleasant stuff, we can spec-up alternative suspension forks, from coil-sprung fundamentals on entry-level bikes to lockout-adjustable air-sprung forks on performance versions. Even contact points can be tailored—saddles, grips, and pedals can all be selected to meet the brand’s preferred level of comfort and performance. This keen deliberation in selecting components ensures that every single bike we produce is an integral, reliable piece of equipment which is crafted to suit our partner’s brand promise and quality standards.

What Does the Production to Global Delivery Process Involve?

Once the design and component specs are finalized, production becomes a reality. With years of experience as an e-bike manufacturer, we have a streamlined production process designed for productivity and quality control. The first step is sourcing. We procure the necessary raw materials and components, i.e., the 6061 Aluminum Alloy tubing and the 48V 750W brushless motors, from our existing pool of trusted suppliers. Once they reach us, every component undergoes a very rigorous incoming quality check to determine whether it meets our standards. The frames are then welded together by our skilled technicians, heat-treated to achieve the level of toughness necessary, and prepared to be painted. The act of painting itself is multi-stage, offering a durable and good-quality finish that will be worthy of your brand for a good many years to come.

The assembly line is where everything comes together. Every bicycle is assembled by teams of experienced mechanics who assemble according to a precise assembly process. Torque readings are watched closely for every bolt, and every system, from the hydraulic disc brakes to the Shimano 7-speed derailleur, is meticulously installed and adjusted. Every built bike also goes through a strict quality control inspection. This includes a full functional test of the electrical system, tuning of the brakes and gears, and a strict cosmetic examination. We don’t simply randomly spot-check; we verify every unit leaving our factory is perfect. Once it goes through QA, a bike is carefully packed for export. Our default package size (144*34*86cm, 48kg) is actually designed to lock the bike in transit so that the bike is not damaged. We handle all logistics, employing reputable freight forwarders to get your customized e-bike fleet securely and efficiently to your warehouse, anywhere in the world.

Why Does After-Sales Support Matter for OEM Partners?

Our relationship with our partners does not stop when their port receives the container. In fact, it is just the beginning of our lasting partnership. We believe exceptional after-sales support is an absolute part of being a top-of-the-line OEM electric bike manufacturer. For B2B customers, especially those running rental fleets or large distribution systems, minimizing downtime is key to profitability. So, we provide comprehensive technical support and a good spare parts program. Even before the first shipment leaves our factory, we work with our customers to create a recommended spare parts inventory, such as normal wear-and-tear items along with critical components like controllers, displays, and sensors. This provides them with the inventory they require on hand to be able to make quick fixes and keep their fleet running.

We also provide full technical information, i.e., service manuals and trouble-shooting guides, for every model produced. Our engineering staff is on hand to assist with questions and remote support for our partners’ service technicians at all times. In the event a more involved issue develops, we are dedicated to solving it promptly and effectively. We guarantee the quality of our products and include a full manufacturer’s warranty on critical components such as the frame, motor, and battery. This is a reassurance to our partners and a testament to our belief in the products that we produce. We see after-sales support as an investment in the long-term success of our partners, rather than a cost center. A successful partner is a supported partner, and their success is the best measure of our own. This belief in ongoing support is one of the key building blocks of the ClipClop OEM experience.
